Business process automation, as I build it, means writing custom middleware and integration logic that connects the software you already use - your CRM, accounting tool, HR system, or e-commerce platform - so that data and actions move between them automatically, without someone manually re-entering it.

This is different from buying a no-code automation tool (Zapier, Make, n8n) off the shelf. Those work well for simple, standard connections between popular apps. What kinds of processes can actually be automated?

Yes - this is most of what custom automation work actually is. If both tools have an API (even an undocumented or partial one), I can usually build a bridge between them. It's a different, more involved process than clicking "connect" in a no-code tool, which is exactly why it's worth having a developer do it rather than trying to force a generic connector to work.

What if our software is old and doesn't have an API at all?

Some options still exist - database-level integration, scheduled file exports/imports, or, in some cases, browser automation that interacts with the system the way a person would. I'll tell you honestly during the audit which approach fits your system and what its limitations are.
